Six Months to StripperFit

That awkward moment when you realize something you added a trigger warning to earlier today actually triggered YOU.

Well hell, now my complete anxiety-fest and accompanying meltdown make a bit more sense.

I’m back

I’d stopped posting for a bit because I was really upset about the weight that I was gaining (or rather, not loosing in my midsection). I wasn’t so upset about the weight in my thighs and butt, that’s muscle, and it’s going where I wanted it.

But in addition, I’ve been blogging over at foolishtryathlete.tumblr.com about my triathlon adventures, thus far.

Well today, I finally put up a pic of myself. A sexy one at that :D

And everyday that I step out of the shower, I’m very happy at what I’ve accomplished. I need to follow up and take measurements of my good parts to see how I’m coming along for real.

Next step will be to get the Champagne Room together and get those pole classes started.

I’m headed to Miami this weekend and I plan to be pretty sexy.

Skin looks good, toes are done, nails are done, hair on Thursday before my flight. I’m gonna look great!

Body is not just it.

What else do I need to be Stripper Fit? {LINKS}

Well, men love beautiful hair, don’t you too ladies? I know I do.

To achieve my stripper look, I might need healthy hair and skin.

So, it’s been a tough few weeks

You’ll notice I haven’t posted much for weeks 7 & 8. I feel frustrated although I’m seeing results but I feel like I’ve plateaued and I need to see something different. My routine needs to be different, I’m doing the same thing, pretty much.

However, I am proud to add that I’m doing my deadlifts with a 45lb weighted bar rather than the 24/30lb weight bar. One of my trainers (SWOLE1) told me I wasn’t doing enough with that, so I stepped up.

Also, I half way started another tumblr blog about my triathlon endeavours. Whew, I feel like I”m doing too much.

But I’m gonna pick it back up. The serious fitness that is. Now, when I was at home in Charleston this past weekend, I didn’t completely fall out, I worked out on the basketball court. And that was fun.

Keep moving, anyway you can.

XoXo

Tired of the Treadmill/Elliptical, Try these

So what are the alternatives to treadmills and elliptical trainers? Here are some of my (the author’s) favorite types of alternative exercises:

  • jumping rope – great mind / body connection (try speed jumping, crosses, double jumps once you get skilled at it)
  • bodyweight training – bodyweight squats, pushups, lunges, jumps, bear crawls, mountain climbers and jumpers, planks, and the list goes on and on
  • kettlebell training – nothing will get your heart pounding like high repetition KB swings and snatches or clean & presses (can be done with dumbbells too, but I prefer KBs)
  • outdoor wind sprinting (the ultimate for a rock hard ripped body… just look at the chiseled powerful bodies of world class sprinters, and compare that to the weakling withered physique of a typical marathoner… nuff said!)
  • hill sprinting (yet another classic for a rock hard powerful body)
  • rowing machine (ok, I don’t really lump this in as a “cardio” machine like treadmills and ellipticals… I think the rowing machine is actually a great full body workout that actually uses resistance)
  • sprint style swimming workouts (a more muscular workout than steady state distance swimming… I actually love the upper body pump I get from sprint style swimming) – this is the same concept as sprinting vs jogging but in a pool instead
  • heavy bag punching / kicking workout, speed bag, rebound bag… all great forms of training and much more interesting than boring cardio machines (requires an intense mind / body connection)
  • shadow boxing… awesome workout, but if you’re shy, this is best done at home since you’ll get some crazy stares doing this at a typical gym from people who think they’re “too cool” for stuff like that.
